Since 2001 the cultural landscape around Lake Neusiedl is registered on the list of the World Heritage Sites. In this course, the importance of the UNESCO World Heritage List will be explained. The focus is laid on the discussion about the impact of the label World Heritage has on the region and in particular to the architecture.Away from the controversial discussion about the World heritage Site Vienna the importance of the outstanding universal value, authenticity and integrity will be highlighted in the course. On this basis, the aim is to study the compatibility of preservation of architectural traditions and the development of new architectural language with a corresponding local character.

Course is combined with the course 251.006 SE Comparative History of Architecture and can optional be combined with 251.169 Recording and presentation of architecture course.
