The course is designed as a visionary digression in the theory of architecture, starting with classical Greece and ending with the present. The underlying assumption is that art history, in that it likes to reference earlier works of art, usually deals with the production of continuities and similarities. In contrast, this course addresses the differences between the different movements in architecture and clarifies via examples the qualities that a drawing or a building had to fulfill in order to be recognized as a work of architecture in a particular epoch.
