Understanding state of the art Smart Grid topics

Several topics on the Smart Grid area are studied in this course with emphasis on:

1. Operation challenges in transmission network
2. Integration of distributed generation in      medium voltage grid
3. Integration of distributed generation in low      voltage grid
4. Virtual Power Plants
5. Microgrids
6. Load behaviour, static characteristics
7. Protection

In the first part of the seminar students are requested to collect material on some aspect of the above topics and prepare a written report and an oral presentation (slides template is included in TISS).

In the second part of the seminar, an industry expert will report about the smart grids and the students will have the possibility to make questions related to their theme. Students will then be requested to extend their written report from the first part by a brief reflection (1-2 pages) with the concrete industry experiences.
