After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and basically apply the scientific foundations and physical aspects of daylight and artificial light onto specific questions (of the architectural domain).
This course aims at enabling students to understandthe fundamentals of light:
Additionally the course equipes students with the necessary background knowledge for the use of high-performance lighting simulation tools in the architectural lighting and acoustic domains. First the scientific foundations of dayligting, illuminating engineering, room acoustics, and building acoustics are introduced. Subsequently, computational design support tools for the simulation of dayligthing and electrical ligthing as well as sound propagation in architectural spaces are treated. Using realistic case studies, the course provides the students with the knowledge and skills toward the competent use of lighting and acoustic simulation tools in Architecture.
