After successful completion of the course, students are able to name and fundamentally apply the principles of scientific research. Moreover, they know differenr research paradigmae, research methodologies and relevant related principles.

This course focuses on the essentials of "Research" understood both as a process and a Title for different related (sub-)activities. The most important principles and methods as well as research design will be dicussed. Thereby, the different approaches that can be found in natural and engineering sciences, humanities, and also in knowledge-based architectural design will be presented and used as a basis for discourse. Moreover, contemporary examples of applied and fundamental research in the field "Building Sciences and Environment" will be shown and critically assessed.
