Aim of course

With this course we aim to impart knowledge regarding theoretical concepts and practical methods for creative brainstorming in technical as well as socio-economic composition and conceptual design. Students are supposed to design individual as well as group oriented ideation processes. Moreover, students will learn how to apply that knowledge for design, creation, and selection of own innovative approaches and business models. A special focus is dedicated to the design of interaction in and with creative teams.

Subject of course

This lecture is part of the supplementary curriculum innovation. The curriculum is designed for three semester and finishes with a Diploma Supplement. Only a restricted number of students will be accepted for the curriculum. Registration is necessary and students have to apply according a pre-defined application procedure. (next submission deadline: Friday December 14th, 2012)

The first part of the course focuses on imparting knowledge on important techniques on creativity exploring and explaining the most important tools for creativity gaining. Selected techniques will be explored theoretically, practically, and discussed. Elaborated methods will be rolled over into practical projects together with experts in the domain of innovation, screen and web design, knowledge management. In this course you will gain insights into creativity processes as well as you will learn how to be part of and deal with creative experts and teams.

Additional information

Erich Prem is the CEO of eutema Technology Management. He is a graduate engineer in computer science and holds a PhD in computer science from the Technical University of Vienna. Dr. Prem also graduated in managerial economics and received an MBA in General Management from Donau University. He is an experienced co-ordinator of many international projects in ICT research and technology management and a frequent evaluator of research projects. For the last 10 years, he has worked in research management and policy with a focus on ICT research strategy. Dr. Prem has a scientific background in Artificial Intelligence and epistemology. He was a researcher at the Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence and a guest researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also a lecturer at the University of Vienna and has published more than 45 scientific articles.
