Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • write scientific texts,
  • work on special geotechnical problems,
  • use theoretical and practical skills gained within this course for similar tasks,
  • rate the required effort for subsequent scientific theses (e.g. Master thesis, PhD thesis).

Subject of course

An individually defined, geotechnical task is discussed within a scientific paper. For example laboratory tests and field tests are carried out and their results prepared and analysed, methods for the evaluation of laboratory tests or field tests are developed, the state of research of a specific geotechnical topic is described or numerical simulations are performed. The student will be continuously supervised.

Teaching methods

The student is free to select a specific geotechnical topic within the course. The report will then be prepared independently by the student. The student will be continuously supervised.
