Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand in sufficient detail the fundamentals of optical data communication, apply them to relevant technological problems and evaluate future trends.

Subject of course

Glass fibers as optical waveguides (modes, dispersion, loss), optical transmitters and optical amplifiers, optical receivers, fiber-optic communication links, free-space systems.

Teaching methods

Conventional lecture with praktical demonstrations.
