After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop new technical signs according to the linguistic parameters of Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS). Furthermore, they have acquired basic knowledge of video production, so that they can record new technical signs on video and edit them in post-production.
During this course, technical signs for various fields of study are analysed and newly developed. Basic knowledge is acquired through expert lectures. Students get together in working groups and collect vocabulary from their daily study routine for which there are no adequate signs yet. In the following step, new technical signs are developed according to the parameters of Austrian Sign Language and added as a video to the existing technical sign lexicon of Service Point GESTU. Existing entries of the lexicon are verified for their actuality and if necessary filmed again.
Self-directed work, lecture, exchange meetings with Service Point GESTU
This course is open for students of all universities in Vienna and Graz who identify as Native Signers. Other participation is possible after consultation with Service Point GESTU Vienna and Graz.
