After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand digital mobile radio technologies, describe their basic functionality, correctly assess the potential of the latest technological developments and apply basic signal processing methods for wireless communication. The focus is specifically on the closely related 4th and 5th generation mobile radio standards, as well as on current developments towards 6th generation mobile radio (roll-out from 2030).
The most important technologies of fourth and fifth generation mobile communication systems will be discussed, with main focus on the signal processing perspective. As a basis, the underlying information theoretic concepts and models are introduced and reviewed. Building on this basis, promising current developments of 6G technologies will be introduced.
The slides of the lecture and additional literature will be provided in TUWEL. Hand-outs of the slides will be provided at the lectures.
The preliminary discussion and introduction/motivation of the lecture takes place on March 5.
