Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

- explain basic concepts of network security
- describe how cryptographic methods work (including RSA, ElGamal, Diffie-Hellman, Elliptic Curve Cryptography)
- solve arithmetic problems on cryptographic methods
- describe and apply methods of anomaly detection
- use selected network data analysis and anomaly detection tools to analyze network data for different questions

Subject of course

Security objectives in communication networks, threats and attack techniques, cryptography (basic  concepts, selected topics), security concepts for communication protocols, network supervision techniques, network data analysis, anomaly detection methods, practical exercises.

Teaching methods

Presentation of slides with additional explanations on the blackboard, laboratory exercises
