The seminar is intended for in-depth reading and discussion of recent research papers in the area of communications and information processing.

First meeting: Friday March 16, 2018, 1:00 pm, Sem. 389 (room CG0118)

The idea of the seminar (aka Reading Group) is to jointly work our way through scientific papers that have had above-average impact, that bear relevance to (y)our (future) research, that introduce highly innovative ideas or were otherwise influential.

The general procedure is as follows:

• we select the papers we want to read and discuss and fix dates for each them
• everybody who is interested and wants to participate in the meeting for that paper reads the paper in advance (at least superficially) so that we can focus on discussing details rather than wasting time for answering straightforward questions regarding notation, problem statement etc.
• for each paper, there will be one "moderator" who reads the paper in detail, presents a summary (main ideas, tools and methodologies used, applications, possible impact on our work), and guides the discussion

• regularly attend the seminar
• moderate a research paper
