Aim of course

Traffic events in communication systems and networks origin from many independent sources and are highly stochastic. By using queueing analysis or simulation techniques, these stochastic traffic flows and the communication systems can be modelled, thus allowing to evaluate teletraffic performance of communication systems and networks. Fundamentals of teletraffic and performance modelling which is illustrated by many practical examples.

Subject of course

Introduction: Probability theory, Distributions; Transformations Markov processes, renewal processes, semi-markov processes Single server models: M/M/1, M/G/1, GI/M/1, GI/G/1, PH/PH/1 Multi server models: M/M/n, M/G/n, GI/M/n, GI/G/n, PH/PH/n Priority models Polling models Vacation models Multi-parameter and multi-constraint models Queueing networks Teletraffic Network dimensioning
