This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2018W, VO, 2.0h, 3.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VO Lecture

Aim of course

to learn about (1) the quantum theory of light (photons), (2) the interaction of electromagnetic waves and localized space charge (plasmons), (3) the propagation of electromagnetic waves in spatially modulated media (photonic crystals), and (4) generalized concept of interaction of materials with electromagnetic waves (metamaterials).

Subject of course

Modern concepts of photonic devices are presented and discussed in detail. Those include, for instance, metamaterials, photonics crystals, plasmonic devices, and quantum light sources.
