Aim of course

Knowledge of working principle and properties of devices employed in optical communications. In-depth comprehension of optical waveguides (glass fibers), optical transmitters, optical amplifiers, and optical receivers. Detailed knowledge of the factors influencing the overall transmission property of fiber systems (attenuation, dispersion). Knowledge of free-space systems. Numerical treatment of system devices and calculation of properties of entire systems.

Glass fibers as optical waveguides (modes, dispersion, loss), optical transmitters and optical amplifiers, optical receivers, fiber-optic communication links, free-space systems.
