Elaboration course in the field of computersystems with the goal to communicate scientific research communicating the fundamentals for creating a bachelor thesis (e.g. 384.997, or 384.167). Both the writing of scientific publications and their reviewing (peer review) will be trained in practice.
The course is constituted of a theoretical and a practical part. A number of lectures at the beginning of the semester will outline current research topics and bachelor topics at the ICT.
The content of the practical part is a presentation is the combination of contributing as author and reviewer in a training conference, which will be held at the end of the semester. You should write a paper with scientific research. The topic shall be chosen out of the research topics presented in the lectures.The work will be handed in at the conference tool and will be reviewed by other students (you will review as well). The tool is used for real conferences around the world. The reviews will be discussed in a seminar (the program committee meeting). Finally, your paper should be amended, considering all of the comments. The course can be seen as the basis for creating a bachelor thesis, which can be done extending the practical work in this course. Additional information will be given in the preliminary lecture. Taking part in the lecture unit about scientific work is required for successfully finishing this lecture.
Overall grade = 40 % grade of seminar work + 30 % of feedback to the peer's seminar work + 30 % presentation. It is mandatory for you to attend the scientific working module.
