Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand surface acoustic wave components and to choose saw filter and resonator devices  for application in communication systems. Knowledge of further special saw components complete the learning goals.

Subject of course

Surface acoustic wave devices (SAW) are applied in a continously growing number in almost every (but not only) mobile communication system, but they are almost not present in the education. The lecture willl introduce into the topic. It also gives practical hints and applications dealing with SAW devices.

Teaching methods

The lecture will be held as presentation with a continuous invitation for discussion. The slides will be available as pdf file.


This year 2020/21 and due to the Covid-19 situation, the lecture will be held in Distance Learning Mode:

The attendees registered to the lecture via TISS will be supplied with the presentation slides, a summary and a catalog of topics. The pass the lecture you will have to choose one of the topics, do literature research and send me an written summary in pdf format.
