This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2020W, LU, 2.5h, 2.5EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.5
  • Credits: 2.5
  • Type: LU Laboratory Exercise
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • utilize modern numerics software (Matlab/Simulink) to model, simulate and analyze dynamical systems.
  • mathematically describe simple mechatronic systems.
  • apply linear control design methods (loop-shaping, pole placement) to such systems.

Subject of course

Introduction to basic concepts of the simulation of dynamic systems using modern numerical simulation programs (Matlab/Simulink), application of the control concepts to specific examples. The excersises are focussed on loop shaping and state space methods.

Teaching methods

distance learning lab course, preparation of problem sets prior to the lab courses, discussion of the theoretic foundation during the lab course as a web-meeting in Zoom

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

  • Preliminary discussion will take place on October 20th 2020, 2 pm as a Web-Meeting.
  • The TUWEL course is the basis of the distance learning. All necessary information, group assignments and Zoom meetings will be provided there.
  • Exercise course starts at the beginning of December 2020
  • Used software: MATLAB/Simulink + Control System Toolbox
  • Guidelines for the exercise course:
At least two weeks before each unit the exercises are made available on the homepage of the institute to be thoroughly prepared by the students. During the lab units the prepared exercises are discussed through a two hour web-meeting in Zoom. Please make sure that you already know before the kick-off meeting with whom you want to form a group of 2 persons. The registration for the groups is open after the preliminary discussion via TISS.
  • For administrative questions feel free to contact Florian Beck, beck@acin.tuwien.ac.at
