This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2022S, VU, 3.0h, 4.5EC, to be held in blocked form

Properties

  • Semester hours: 3.0
  • Credits: 4.5
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise
  • Format: Presence

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • model plants with distributed parameters.
  • investigate properties of distributed-parameter systems such as stability, controlability and reachability and address differences compared to lumped-parameter systems.
  • choose suitable control strategies and apply them to examples.
  • evaluate the performance of designed control systems.

Subject of course

  • Modeling of DPS control processes
  • Analytical and numerical solution approaches for partial differential equations
  • DPS control in the frequency domain
  • State-space representation, stability, controllability, observability
  • Functional analytic approaches for control and observer design
  • Flatness-based feedforward and feedback control design
  • Backstepping and passivity-based methods
