Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

- subdivide automation systems into their control components and structures.
- Assign technical processes to the corresponding control processes.
- interpret piping and instrumentation flow diagrams and associated process control stations
- interpret pneumatic circuit diagrams and solve simple examples independently
- explain how a PLC works
- to explain how distributed control systems are operated in accordance with IEC 61499
- create simple control programs according to IEC 61131 and IEC 61499
- reliability, probability of failure, failure rate and other parameters and to interpret them
- Explain and classify determinism, access methods and topologies of fieldbus systems
- calculate kinematic chains
- can explain direct and inverse kinematics and calculate simple examples
- can fundamentally explain the path planning of industrial robots
