Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 2.0
  • Type: VL Lecture and Laboratory Exercise
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to to understand and interpret system equations of this type of machines. In addition, the pros and cons of doubly fed induction machines are understood as well as connections and possibilities to influence and control state variables like active  and reactive power, speed and torque.

Subject of course

Advantages and disadvantages of doubly fed induction machines; system equations; basic operation; definition of specific tasks (wind energy generator, pump, ...); control methods (active, reactive power; speed, torque); design of drive components; practical implementation of the control loop; measurement on a wind energy generator.

Teaching methods

Theory and practical verification on a test stand including interpretation of measurement results.
