Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to successfully perform numerical calculations by means of the Finite Element Method in particular for electrical machines and transformers.

Subject of course

Finite Element Method; Coupled electromagnetic-mechanical and electromagnetic-thermal problems; Material modelling; Calculation of significant parameters; Design optimization; Various exercises in the field of the lecture.

Teaching methods

  • Introduction to the Finite Element Method in terms of both electromagnetics as well as numerical mathematics.
  • Practical exercises for training using various software products as well as interpretation of the results.
