After successful completion of the course, students are able to, on the one hand, successfully apply the relevant skills acquired during their studies in the field of energy economics and energy system analysis or modelling in a practice-oriented manner in companies in the energy industry or non-university research institutes and, on the other hand, to successfully implement precisely defined projects and, in case, to lead a small project team.
For example, this course includes the following internships (only exemplary selection, list not exhaustive): Summer Academy Wien Energie, Internship at Austrian Power Grid (APG), various Internships (FemTECH, standard internship) at Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), Internship at another energy company, grid operator or association of the energy industry, etc.
Depending on the type of internship, the applied activity may include: carrying out profitability and feasibility studies including presentation of results, development of simulation software or software applications, practical laboratory work incl. reporting, field service work on energy systems (commissioning, maintenance and servicing, measurements), preparation of project documents and project documentation, participation in project management courses, and much more.
Depending on the type of internship, application of different analytical methods in the energy economics, the modeling of energy systems or practical work in laboratories or on energy technology facilities in generation, transmission, distribution or at customers.
Submission of a confirmation of the company in the energy industry or the non-university research institute:
- Duration of the internship (including any preparation and follow-up times, a minimum of 100 hours is expected)
- Successful completion of the required tasks in the respective internship
