Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to,

  • describe and calculate electrical power transmission and distribution systems and their components,
  • to deal with the technical basics (reactive power, neutral point treatment, fault treatment, grid protection) of all voltage levels qualitatively and quantitatively,
  • to deal with the basics of network planning, system management and network control technology
  • evaluate the benefits of new technologies

Subject of course

Development of electrical networks, operational behavior of three-phase systems, voltage levels, transmission and distribution, neutral point treatment and network protection, network components, switchgear and switching operations, planning of network expansion in the transmission and distribution network, direct current technology and FACTS, system operations and network control, network control technology.
