Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the objectives for rational network operation. The framework conditions for distribution network operations are discussed on the basis of national and international standards and regulatives.

The students acquire knowledge of technical and legal requirements, including regulatory aspects. Furthermorethe students  master the calculation of short-circuit power and short- circuit measures for a stable mains operation.

In addition, the students are to be analyzed with regard to operational network protection and automation concepts. The learning of skills related to the functional tasks of central network control centers complements the objectives of a rational distribution network area.

By communicating strategies for coping with major disorders and black outs the students have acquired their knowledge of network reconstruction concepts.

The current challenges for the future in network operation  are presented and their effects discussed. In this connection, the graduates of the course will be to introduced to the key steps in digitization in all levels of voltage. As a result students are able to cassify the spectrum of data transmission based on data acquisition via extensive sensor technology.

The influence of load characteristics of electrical equipment in grid operation and the operational management concepts are explained in detail. After a positive completion of this course the students have acqired the knowledge and skills required fort he tasks framework conditions and future parmeters für the operation of electrical distribution networks.
