Control centre is the central nerve of power systems that sense the puls of it, adjusts its conditions, coordinates its operation, and provides defense agaibst exogenous events. The power system operation processes in transmission and distribution level supported by SCADA, EMS and DMS applicationes constitute the core of this lecture. The lesson is accompanied by practical exercises in a SCADA / EMS / DMS system.
The description of the operation processes and the technology used in control centers is provided. The most relevant applications are theoretically and practically discussed. The lecture is enriched with many demonstrations and exercises that are performed in a real SCADA/EMS/DMS system.
