Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • use the basic laws and equations of thermodynamics für theoretical and real thermodynamic cyclic processes,
  • calculate thermodynamic processes implemented in power plants,
  • calculate combined heat and power plants and methods for increasing the efficiency of thermal power plants,
  • describe aspects of lowering emissions and environmental protection in thermal and other power plants,
  • specify hydro power plants,
  • calculate specific aspects of power plant auxiliaries,
  • understand general aspects of nuclear power plants and
  • describe protection for electrical machines and power plants.

Basics of Thermodynamics, thermodynamic processes, gas turbine power plants, steam power plants, hydro power plants, combined cycle power plants, measures to increase efficiency, emissions and environmental protection, auxiliaries, protection of electrical machines and power plants
