Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to independently carry out the modeling of simple electrical energy systems. This includes energy modeling, energy-economic evaluation of measured data and simple network analyses. Students will be able to apply the fundamentals of electrical engineering to energy transmission and distribution and apply simple basic rules of electrical energy technology using computers.

Subject of course

Energy economics (EEG):

  •     Modeling of PV generation
  •     Introduction to Python + Jupyter Notebook
  •     Profitability analysis of PV generation (rooftop, ground-mounted systems)
  •     Statistical analysis of generation data and electricity prices

Energy systems and networks (NES):

  •     Introduction to modeling electrical power systems and grids
  •     Modeling simple power flows - computer exercise
  •     Grid control - theory
  •     Modeling of grid control - computer exercise

Simulation project in groups on energy economics and grid simulation / analysis of photovoltaics in distribution grids. Presentation on study trip (compulsory attendance).
