After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain the various production technologies, concepts, components and also simple systems in microfluidics and to evaluate their advantages and disadvantages.
How do liquids behave on the microscopic scale? What phenomena emerge there? What possibilities arise there and what can be done differently than in the macroscopic world? We are currently experiencing a rapid development, which is leading to new technologies and products, especially in the life sciences.
The lecture gives a comprehensive overview of the typical microfluidic components and systems, with the relevant basics in each case. Current developments, e.g. COVID tests and blood cytometry for the detection of cell changes in long COVID, will also be discussed.

Language: The lecture will be held in German this year. Most of the teaching material is already available in English.
COVID: TU's current Covid rules allow for face-to-face lectures. Therefore, the lecture will be held on site. TUWEL offerings for this lecture will of course remain available.
Although the lecture is this year in German, the lecture notes, slides and videos are also availabe in English, however, not completely (~80%).
