After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain acoustic sensors, to describe human perception and simple acoustic basics, to summarise technological applications of acoustic sensors, to present the importance of wireless sensors in connection with department store theft protection, to explicate Ion sensors and DNA sequencing with field effect transistors as well as to analyse microfluidics from the single component to the system.
Lecture part:
1. Introduction
2. Acoustic sensors
2.1.Human perception
2.2.Simple acoustic basics
2.3.Macroscopic and miniaturized microphones
2.4.Microphone arrays, acoustic camera
3. Wireless sensors
Introduction to the basic principles, electronic surveillance system
4. Ion sensors and DNA sequencing with field effect transistors
5. Microfluidics
From the single component (e.g., mixers, valves, ...) to the system (Lab on Chip)
Laboratory part (belongs to the advanced lecture (366.014) for embedded systems, but can be taken out of competition, if interested):
1. Anti theft system
2. Lock-in amplifie
If interested, students can also take part in the lab exercise of 366.014 (Sensors and Microsystems Technology, Deepening, 2 dates = 1 day).
Appointment directly at the lecture.
