2020S, VU, 4.0h, 5.0EC, to be held in blocked form
TUWEL

Properties

  • Semester hours: 4.0
  • Credits: 5.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand fundamental physiological, physical and bioelectrical aspects of biophysics. They are further able to describe methods for bioelectrical measurements (e.g. Biointerfaces, patch-clamping, recording of biosignals using microelectrodes). The participants know basic methods for analyzing biosignals and are competent to summmarize some basic results of modern brain research.

Subject of course

The participants willl receive an introduction in different basic fields of biophysics wth a focus on understanding bioelectrical processes in the nervous system.

Teaching methods

The different lecturer present their special fields with the help of digital presentations. An four-hour hands-on training is offered where the students can operate an EEG measurement themselves and can simulate the electric behaviour of neurons with the "Neurons in action" program.

Mode of examination

Written and oral

Additional information

The lecture part of this LVA will be offered as a block course beginning of march in the seminar room 362-1 in the second floor of the building CH, Nano-center Campus Gusshausstrasse 25-25a. Registration in TISS.
