Aim of course

Give the student the means to design a machine vision system for a given scientific or industrial application.

There will be an exam at the end of the last lecture. There will be also two assignment with each a one-page report on a topic related to Machine vision.

Subject of course

Introduction and examples to machine vision - the consideration of a vision system beginning from lighting and media, over sensors to algorithms, methods and examples. The lecture is the result of the growing need of industry to use machine vision systems in inspection and manufacturing. Two thirds of the Institute's assistants are employed via contracts in the field of machine vision. A short Overview: Physics of lighting Line and array cameras, lenses Geometry of camera and objects Algortihms and methods of image processing Applications: Inspection systems, vision-based motion of a robot
