Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to record and assess industrial robots and their practical use in flexible automation, the construction of industrial robots, general boundary conditions in automotive engineering and the cost management of an automotive supplier.


Subject of course

Introduction to industrial robots: Kinematics, drives, sensors, grippers, accuracy definitions, control and programming, tolerance compensation and motion control; General constraints in automotive engineering; Cost management of an automotive supplier in practice, target costing; Focus on automation in automotive electronics, production of control units with printed circuit boards and ceramic circuit carriers, quality assurance; Case study air conditioning, electrical and electronic components, systemic interaction, simulation and validation; Case study powertrain management, control architectures, synergies through mechatronic modular design in transmission-integrated electronic controls, thermal design; functional enhancement through electronics.

Teaching methods

The lecture gives an insight into the above-mentioned basic methods that are used in robotics by automobile manufacturers and automotive suppliers. In the lecture the methods mentioned above are presented and illustrated by practical examples.
