After successful completion of the course, students are able to record and assess industrial robots and their practical use in flexible automation, the construction of industrial robots, general boundary conditions in automotive engineering and the cost management of an automotive supplier.


Subject of course

Industrial robots and applications in flexible automation; structure of industrial robots, focussing on manipulators, drives, sensors, effectors, control and programming; tolerance compensation for applications of industrial robots; Driving factors in the automotive industry; examples for cost management of automotive suppliers, target costing; assembly automation for electronic control units, production of electronic control units based on printed circuit boards and ceramic substrates; examples for mechatronic technology, automated manual transmissions, camshaft phasing, power steering, brake by wire; powertrain management with focus on control architectures and transmission integrated electronic controls; improvements of functionality by electronics.

Teaching methods

In the lecture the methods mentioned above are presented and illustrated by practical examples.
