Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • understand advanced concepts in quantum mechanics and solid state physics, and apply them to problems in microelectronics.
  • describe and design modern (opto-)electronic devices using these concepts.
  • implement the learned methods for simple numerical simulations.

Subject of course

Absorption of the fundamentals of semiconductor physics from the perspective of the applications in micro- and nanoelectronics including the following subjects: electronic structure of low dimensional systems, electronic transport and carrer scattering,  electron-photon interaction, density matrix and master equation, continuative concepts of quantum mechanics such as many body systems, fermions and bosons.
