Aim of course

The students acquire practically applicable knowledge in numerical mathematics; the main emphasis is laid on gaining knowledge about the numerics necessary for the implementation of physical models for the semiconductor process simulation.The focus is on material models that also contain a mathematical description of the microstructure.

Subject of course

The basic principles of numerical mathematics relevant for the electrical engineer are explained: solving linear and nonlinear, real and complex algebraic equations, solution of integrals, interpolation, solving systems of ordinary and partial differential equation systems, finite difference method, and finite element method.

In the exercise, students are given the opportunity to apply the acquired knowledge to solve specific tasks, either as a C/C ++ program or as a model implemented in an existing software.
