The students acquire practically usable knowledge in numerical mathematics and basic knowledge in the programming language Fortran; they obtain an overview of the paradigms of supercomputing. The main emphasis is laid on gaining knowledge about numerical aspects for the simulation of micro-structures, especially using the example of semiconductor process simulation.
Basics of numerical mathematics relevant for the technician are presented: solution of linear and non-linear, real and complex algbraic equation systems, solution of integrals, interpolation, solution of ordinary and partial differential equation systems.
An introduction into the programming language Fortran as well as into the paradigms of supercomputing is given. Development and testing of Fortran programs is trained practically where either prescribed or own examples are worked out. An existing software for the simulation of technological process steps in semiconductor manufactoring will be practically applied.
