Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to identify and evaluate actual trends and tendences in the field of microtechnology with special focus on sensors, actuators and precision engineering . They are able to propose micro structuring technologies for given tasks.

Subject of course

This lecture gives information on actual trends and tendences in the field of microtechnology focusing on the extreme miniaturisation in sensorics, actuatoric and applications in precision engineering. Besides an overview on suitable technologies for fabrication of microcomponents, further aspects on market requirements, on integration of microcomponents and systems into existing products, on reliability, handling and assembly of microparts, testing techniques, as well as European efforts in research, development and training in the field of microsystem technology are given.
