Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand economic, ecological and technical aspects of water and space heating in buildings. Optimization of energy savings and environmental protections will be presented based on the basic technical relationships and evaluation methods. Emphasis will be given to the following topics: determination of heating capacities.

The lecture focuses economic, ecological and technical aspects of water and space heating in buildings. Optimization of energy savings and environmental protections will be presented based on the basic technical relationships and evaluation methods. Emphasis will be given to the following topics: determination of heating capacities, consideration of climatic factors, estimation of useful and final energy requirements, methods for costs calculations, costs of heating systems and energy savings, evaluation of air quality in heated buildings, new and emerging technologies for space heating (in combination with solar heating, heat pumps), active and passive solar heating systems, energy savings possibilities, design of solar collectors and restoration of buildings.
