Aim of course

Knowledge of state of the art technologies of electronic-photonic integration and their applications.

Subject of course

After a short introduction the fundamentals of electronic integration will be recapitulated. Additionally, we will discuss the fundamentals of photonic integration, including passive (e.g. waveguides) and active components (e.g. micro-ring resonators). After that, we will talk about the integration of photonic ICs with electronic ICs. Finally, possible actual and future applications will be investigated (e.g. systems for optical networks, quantum simulators, and key components for quantum computers).
