Provide basics about biomedical instruments and devices, from the diagnostic instruments over the therapeutic devices up to long-term monitoring applications, including basic understanding of the operational principles of devices for transducing, amplifying and interpreting the signals.
Introduction to theory, praxis, and restrictions of common diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring instruments for biomedical applications. Covers the basic concept of semicoonductors and operation amplifiers, use of transducers, data recording and analysis systems such as microcomputer interfaces. Historical aspects are encompassed as well as state of the art, e.g., sleep monitoring, and future developments of the biomedical instrumentation, e.g., pervasive monitoring.
