Introduction to theory, praxis, and restrictions of common diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring instruments for biomedical applications. Covers the basic concept of semicoonductors and operation amplifiers, use of transducers, data recording and analysis systems such as microcomputer interfaces. Historical aspects are encompassed as well as state of the art, e.g., sleep monitoring, and future developments of the biomedical instrumentation, e.g., pervasive monitoring.
