Aim of course

Basic knowledge of main possibilities to finance projects and enterprises; role of debt financing; evaluation of credit financing opportunities (short term, long term); impact of ratings; evaluation of different forms of bond financing (zero bonds, coupon bonds, floater, convertible bonds, warrant bonds); interest rate term structure basics (spot and forward rates, forward rate agreements, calculations); relevance of interest rate swaps and their applications; concept of duration as time and risk measure; basic understanding of main equity instruments; return calculation, mean/variance analysis, capital market models; fundamental knowledge of financial leverage and an entity's capital structure; institutional and empirical aspects of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs).

By solving concrete problems, assignments and case studies the topics of the lectures are trained in practical applications.
