Aim of course

Knowledge of the basics for doing Design by Analysis in pressure vessel technology and familiarity with the failure modes on which the checks are based on. Performing simple examples with the aid of Finite Element Analysis und assessment of results.

Subject of course

We start with an introduction into the FE-method and into the commercial software ANSYS, which is used as tool for the following exercises. Afterwards, the design checks will be explained and applied to mainly rotational symmetric examples. Each lecture starts with a presentation, where the required basics for the exercises are developed. Afterwards, an example is carried out within the group. A similar example has to be analyzed as homework. For the exercises, the PCs of the institute are available, and participants work on PCs.
