2018W, VU, 2.0h, 3.0EC

Properties

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 3.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Aim of course

  • Students are familiar with the fundamentals of plane structures (discs and shells) and they can account for the effect of temperature and electric fields. Students understand phenomena such as vibrations, large deformation and loss of stability and are able to derive their mathematical description.

  • The students are capable of treating problems of plane structures efficiently with analytical and numerical methods; moreover, students can implement these methods on a computer.

  • The gained knowledge has been deepened with the aid of practical examples.

Subject of course

The lecture is concerned with modelling, analysis and simulation of plane structures (discs and plates). The incorparation of the effect of temperature loadings and of applied electric fields is discussed. Besides discs and plates shallow shells are considered in the lecture and large deformations are accounted for. The solution of the governing equations with analytical and numerical methods is treated in detail.
