The goal of this course is to obtain basic knowledge on digital data acquisition, data visualisation, analysis and the compressed storage of measured data. Using this knowledge the students should be able to solve measuring tasks in an efficient way without making systematic errors.
Successful application of modern data acquisition equipment for measurement tasks. The basic knowledge obtained in the course will be applied to get practical experience. Due to a special exercise in the laboratory some experiencies will be made with an eligible plat form (PC and LabVIEW, µC or DSP).
Knowledge of digital electronics (definition of digital levels, functionality of basic digital circuitries like A/D-, D/A-converters, micro controllers, digital signal processors, etc.), usage of PC-based data acquisition cards, one PC-based data acquisition software package with graphical user interface (LabVIEW) and methods for signal analysis (on line, off line, ime- and frequency domain).
Starting with several typical measurement problems a solution will be developed using different electronic or measurement devices, data acquisition cards or data acquisition software.
