Gain experience in the application of theoretical and numerical methods to solve specific problems. Work and results have to be documented in a technical report.
Assignements based on actual research problems are given to the students to be worked on. Some examples of systems to be investigated are: vibration analysis of a given structure (rotor-bearing-system, mechanisms, machine frame, machine foundations, drive trains, mechatronic systems). The analysis can require to solve the eigenvalue problem, to calculate the forced response , to investigate structural modifications and/or to carry out studies in the time and the frequency domain. Students will use variouis tools like FE-programs, rotor dynamic software, multibody-dynamics software and simulation languages.
