Aim of course

 People who take this module will understand and appreciate:

  1. the relationship between emerging advanced technologies, business strategy and corporate culture
  2. the basics of how strategy is developed in light of culture & values
  3. what is meant by great leadership in modern corporations
  4. the critical role of personal and corporate values in business leadership for business performance, and how these can be assessed and managed

Successful participants will therefore:

  1. Have an appreciation of the relationship between emerging technologies, business strategy and corporate culture
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of the critical role of values in business leadership
  3. Appreciate the importance of corporate and personal values as a driver in business performance
  4. Understand how cultural values can be assessed and shaped

Subject of course

This course presents the latest thinking and future trends in management and technology in organisations. It demonstrates how these resources are harnessed to deliver long term sustainable business performance.

Companies need to strategically manage their technological and organisational infrastructure to develop a sustainable business. Business culture and the associated values determine the performance of both individual managers and corporations and therefore the success of long term business strategies. Culture and values also determine the organizations ability to become a market leader. Corporations are looking more and more to their culture as a basis for building long term strategies, vision and competitive advantage.  How is this achieved? What management processes and systems are needed and how do advanced technologies fit in?

The course will be organised into the following sections:

  1. Business management: historical context and future trends
  2. Web Technologies, Business Strategy and Business Culture
  3. Exploring Organisational Culture
  4. Exploring Corporate Values, Personal Values & Leadership

Additional information

This course is delievered using a combination of theoretical material and practical activities designed to explore the topics in a realistic setting. It therefore comprises both lectures and workshops.
