Aim of course

How many emissions can we waste?

To demonstrate that efficiency ¿ doing more with less for longer - is a positive first step towards a sustainable future. To introduce the concept of efficiency and explain how it leads to efficiency gains for companies, increased profitability and other benefits.

Subject of course

  • Background (14 critical mineral raw materials report of the European Commission, water, energy, ¿)
  • Economic, social and political impacts of resource scarcity
  • State-of-the-art of possible solutions:
    - Design for Environment
    - Cleaner Production and industrial symbiosis
    - Alternative use models (product-service-shift)
    - End-of-Life Management (Collection, refurbishment, re-use of product and components, material recycling, energy recovery)
  • Practical case studies from leading companies in the machine building, electric/electronics and plastics industry
  • End of waste ¿ when will waste become a resource?
  • Future trends in research and industry
