  • Format: Hybrid

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • ...to construct and interpret root locus curves.
  • ...to present and adapt various advanced control systems such as feedforward control, cascade control and Smith-Predictor control.
  • ...to investigate the stability of multi-variable control systems and to design simple decoupling controllers.
  • ...to suitably formulate state space systems and to understand and design controllers and observers in the state space.
  • ...to understand the basics of optimization-based control.

Central communication platform of the lecture is the TUWEL course including its news forum. Please follow on TUWEL.

The first unit will take place in Seminarraum BA 05 - MB on Tuesday 04.10.2022 16:00-17:30.

Subject of course

  • Root locus method
  • Feedforward control
  • Cascade control
  • Smith-predictor-control
  • Analysis and design of chemical engineering single-input/single-output systems in state space
  • Optimal control

Teaching methods

The lecture is interactive. It is based on a structured, detailed lecture script, whereby numerous multimedia contents (illustrative videos, practical examples, MATLAB animations of relevant contexts and controller behavior) are also used to support the building of knowledge and understanding.

Students are interactively involved in scientific discussions and in close interaction with the exercise in terms of content.
